Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi appointed Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University

President Draupadi Murmu, in her capacity as the Visitor of Banaras Hindu University, has appointed IIT Kanpur’s Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi as the new Vice Chancellor of BHU.

His appointment is for a term of three years from the date he assumes office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever comes earlier.

According to a letter issued by Shreya Bhardwaj, Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, on Thursday, the terms and conditions of Prof Chaturvedi’s service will be governed by the existing Act, Statutes, and Ordinances of Banaras Hindu University.

The academic community at the BHU and across the country has welcomed the appointment, expressing optimism about a new era of growth and academic excellence under Prof Chaturvedi’s leadership.
